EXILED TONGUES is a NYC based performance collective that provides financial, artistic and collaborative support to artists of the global majority who center diasporic consciousness.
Artists will be commissioned to create public art projects that engage the local community on issues of climate justice and resiliency in collaboration with the Artistic Director, Ray Jordan Achan (@awkward_actor)
They are specifically looking for Brooklyn based artists, OR artists who center environmental justice in their work and are based in the NYC region. The projects will culminate in large public festival in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where community members will engage with your artwork to learn more about the devastating effects of climate change on NYC and its most vulnerable communities.
Selected participants will receive:
$750 project commission; up to $750 in getting supplies for your project; up to $300 in rentals and up to $200 for travel expenses in addition to other project support
If you are interested in being commissioned for both projects, please email ray@exiledtongues.com with a proposal of your project or a statement of interest or DM @awkward_actor
