About Foundwork
Foundwork is a 501(c)3 charitable organization supporting access and recognition for contemporary artists wherever they are based. They provide a dedicated online platform where emerging and mid-career artists can share their work with curators, gallerists, and other prospective collaborators across the global contemporary art community.
They also host ongoing programming, including the Foundwork Artist Prize, to foster engagement and interest for participating artists.
The Foundwork Artist Prize is an annual juried award for emerging and mid-career artists working in any media.
The 2023 honoree will receive an unrestricted $10,000 grant and studio visits with each of the distinguished jurors.
In addition, the honoree and three shortlisted artists will each be invited for interviews as part of the Foundwork Dialogues program.
The jury for the 2023 Foundwork Artist Prize includes esteemed curators, gallerists, and artists based in Los Angeles, Medellín, Miami, and New York:

Davida Nemeroff, Founder, Night Gallery, Los Angeles
Shinique Smith, Multidisciplinary Artist, Los Angeles
Emiliano Valdés, Chief Curator, Medellín Museum of Modern Art, Medellín
Nicola Vassell, Founder, Nicola Vassell Gallery, New York
The Prize is open to artists residing anywhere in the world with limited exceptions.
To be considered, artists must maintain a published profile on the Foundwork website, with at least 6 artworks and an artist statement published on their profile page, throughout the selection period: 5:00 pm PT, September 26–5:00 pm PT, December 31, 2023.
