The Maplibs Project is seeking a Backend Developer to build a content management system and admin interface for the participatory mapping project. The Developer will build schemas that support the content model.

About the Project:
The Maplibs Project is a living atlas of the spaces that make us feel, remember and imagine community in greater Bronzeville neighborhoods. We gather residents to more inclusively pursue a shared vision for the future of the built environment. Inspired by the word game Mad Libs, the project invites you to reflect on your community by playing a word game. The game lets players fill in key parts of a story about community in their neighborhood using words of particular senses. Stretching conventional notions of maps and mapping, the project invites you to submit sounds, photos and videos of your view of community. The collection of media submissions explores the moments of memory making and imagining. The Maplibs Project is a porch for neighborhood memory, experience, and imagination. Project Overview:
Our project entails the development of a website platform that showcases user-generated video and image submissions (example here: https://www.maplibsproject.com/views.html). This involves building a secure and scalable content management system. We’re looking for a developer who can build the entirety of this database system with an admin interface to ensure a seamless integration of multimedia content that is lasting.

Current Stack: Java Script, HTML, CSS, Heroku Deployment

The backend developer will collaborate with the front-end developer to incorporate a headless CMS with Sanity.io. We are looking for an individual who has a proven track record of designing and building websites. The backend developer is a critical member of the project team and will need to be able to take projects from concept to completion. This role is ideal for people who can independently perform work assignments; Ask the right clarifying questions and work with a small team to determine the best software or system functional specifications.

Requirements:
– Experience: 4-8 years of website development experience (backend)
– Familiarity with headless CMS development
– Demonstrated experience with [Sanity.io](http://sanity.io/), React.js, Next.js, Node.js, Heroku, Vercel, and AWS
– Good UI skills – Javascript, HTML, CSS
– Ability to work collaboratively and provide suggestions

Salary: $35/hour
